Lemon Verbena (Aloysia citrodora) produces one of the most intensely lemon-scented leaves in the entire plant kingdom. Brushing against this shrubby tender perennial releases a wave of pure, bright citrus fragrance that is completely captivating. Native to South America, it has been a beloved presence in herb gardens and apothecaries across Europe and North America since the 18th century. Your three live seedlings arrive as starter plugs for organic gardens, flower beds, and collections of medicinal plants.

Lemon Verbena grows best in full sun with well-drained, fertile soil and consistent moisture. It is a tender perennial that thrives outdoors in summer and should be overwintered indoors or treated as an annual in climates with hard freezes. It responds well to regular harvesting, which encourages bushy growth and continuous fragrant leaf production. Leaves are most aromatic just before the plant flowers. Dry easily and retain fragrance beautifully.
