Skullcap Barbata (Scutellaria barbata, also searched as barbat) is a compact, herbaceous perennial valued for its small blue-purple flowers and traditional medicinal use. The finely textured green foliage forms a tidy, low-growing plant that blooms repeatedly through summer, adding subtle color and interest to herb and medicinal gardens. As a member of the mint family, it can also grow in indoor containers with bright light.

This adaptable plant prefers full sun to partial shade and consistently moist, well-drained soil. It is relatively easy to grow, spreads gently, and performs well in garden beds or containers without becoming invasive. Each potted plant is grown in organic potting mix, making it a thoughtful choice for gifts for her or mom.

Commonly grown for herbal preparations, Skullcap Barbata is also attractive to pollinators and fits well into cottage gardens, apothecary plots, and mixed perennial plantings. Perennial zones 6 to 10.
