Gumweed (Grindelia) is instantly recognizable by the sticky white resin that coats its flower buds, hence both the common name and its traditional uses. Bright yellow daisy-like flowers emerge from those resinous buds, bringing cheerful color to harsh conditions. Thrives in full sun and tolerates drought, poor soil, and challenging conditions that would discourage less resilient plants. The resinous flower buds are harvested just before the flowers open, when the sticky coating is most abundant. Easy to grow and low-maintenance once established.
